These tanks are typically large, concrete structures with multiple chambers. As wastewater flows into the sewage tank, gravity helps to slow down the flow, allowing solid particles to settle at the bottom. This accumulated sludge is later pumped out for further treatment in the sewage treatment plant.


The liquid portion, known as raw sewage, exits the sewage tank and continues through the treatment process, which involves various stages like secondary treatment, disinfection, and filtration.
